Broadway subway: Tunnel-boring machine hits future Oak-VGH Station

The machines have already tunnelled via the longer term Mount Nice and Broadway-Metropolis Corridor stations.

Phyllis arrived on the Oak-VGH Station, on the southwest nook of Broadway and Laurel Avenue, after excavating greater than two kilometres of tunnel and the set up of about 1,330 concrete tunnel liner rings.

Since leaving Broadway-Metropolis Corridor, it tunnelled 22 metres below the Canada Line on the Broadway-Metropolis Corridor station, then rose to about 15 m under the floor to Oak-VGH Station.

After scheduled upkeep, it’ll proceed tunnelling west towards the longer term South Granville Station earlier than ending on the future Arbutus Station.

Elsie is anticipated to reach at Oak-VGH Station later this fall.
